You can’t have your cake and eat it…

In My day to day on March 30, 2009 at 10:45 am

…Oh yes you can!

As you all know it was my birthday last week (Wednesday). And I was totally spoilt…

The day started off with breakfast in bed then we went for a walk (2 hrs!!!) along the railway line at Mahone Bay. By this time, it was time for lunch and we headed to the Innlet cafe for lobster sandwiches.

After lunch we popped along to Cameron’s Mum and Dad’s for coffee and…

It was so big that we had to go round the following day to finish it off! Read the rest of this entry »

A special dedication…

Caitlin,
So so sorry that I missed you out of my previous Scotland posts – It was purely by mistake!

As you mentioned we did in fact try to go to Portsoy beach but it was so bloody muddy that we couldn’t make it down the path (the path runs down the side of the cliff, so it’s pretty steep).

Portsoy

So we gave up, turned around and headed back to Huntly. If you’re not from the Huntly area, you simply will never understand the attraction but to us its ‘home.’ It’s also home to Rizza Ice Cream & Sweetie shop and a trip to Huntly wouldn’t be complete without an ice cream and some penny sweeties!

After a stroll round Huntly and a trip to visit your parents we return to my parent’s house to play some Wii – you better admit that I kicked your ass 😛

Thank you for a great day and so once again for missing you out before!

Hot or Not? You decide!

In My day to day on March 24, 2009 at 3:40 pm

There are two reasons for this post

1) To prove a point
2) To get you lot to start leaving me some comments again

First let me explain a little… Recently whilst in the store trying to decide on which movie to rent, I pointed at the DVD box for the movie P.S. I love you; A romantic chick flick that I recently watch whilst back in Scotland with a girl friend.

P.S. I love you

P.S. I love you

Now, I didn’t point to the box to suggest that we should rent the movie (I already knew that Cameron would hate it) but merely to inform my lovely husband that I think the main guy (Gerry – character name, Gerard Butler – real life name) is pretty damn tasty. No more was said on the matter until the other night when I was trying to find the name of a particular Magner’s Advert song (It was annoying me) that I came across the track ‘Galway Girl’ a different Magner’s song and also a song in the movie, that the subject of Mr Butler arose again.

After lots of google research Mr Queen was still determind that I was mistaken about the attractiveness of this hunky actor. So what I ask is that you vote…

Come on ladies leave your comments, does he get a thumbs up or a thumbs down? I’ve hinged my bets on the fact that at least 8/10 of you will agree. So help me win this bet and have a good look for yourself…

Just another teuchter in Scotland – Part 2

In Sites and Sounds on March 13, 2009 at 12:40 pm

Friday = a trip to Dunkeld for stovies and a walk at the Hermitage – a National Trust for Scotland property on land which stretches up the River Braan from just off the A9.

The evening was spent at Perth Concert Hall listening to the Peatbog Faeries, ‘a celtic fusion band’. Probably wouldn’t have been my choice for an evening of music but the atmosphere was fantastic and it’s good to try something different once in a while. Just another teuchter in Scotland – Part 1

Sorry about the lapse in my rantings but as many of you will know I have spent the last couple of weeks back in my homeland.

I must say it was good to go back but it’s definitely been nice to return to the much more relaxed Canadian lifestyle. Remember you are all welcome to come and try it anytime you fancy.

Anyway, it was a pretty jam packed couple of weeks. I arrived late afternoon on the 25th and wasn’t much good for anything other than a full 12 hours of sleep. The following day I headed Elgin/Inverness way to catch up with a uni friend.

Back home on the 28th to celebrate my little sisters 21st. We were taken by limo (free champagne) to a restaurant where we had a lovely meal and birthday cake.
