Shubenacadie Wildlife Park (Part 1)

In Sites and Sounds on August 16, 2009 at 9:27 pm

As you probably all know my parents and sisters were here from the 1st-15th of this month. It was great to see them and to explore Nova Scotia a little more. We actually visited Shubenacadie (pronounced “Shoo-ben-ack-a-dee”) Wildlife Park on the very last day they were here but these are the photos I have to hand at the moment and I thought there was no harm in working backwards…

First of all, I had to try and teach the gorillas to map read –

Once that was sorted, we moved on to look at some of the other animals…

Don’t they just look so cute? I wouldn’t want to take my chances though.

These Eagles had been brought to the park after being injured. They have been nursed back to health but sadly aren’t able to fend for themselves in the wild anymore.

Just another teuchter in Scotland – Part 1

In Sites and Sounds on March 13, 2009 at 12:38 pm

Sorry about the lapse in my rantings but as many of you will know I have spent the last couple of weeks back in my homeland.

I must say it was good to go back but it’s definitely been nice to return to the much more relaxed Canadian lifestyle. Remember you are all welcome to come and try it anytime you fancy.

Anyway, it was a pretty jam packed couple of weeks. I arrived late afternoon on the 25th and wasn’t much good for anything other than a full 12 hours of sleep. The following day I headed Elgin/Inverness way to catch up with a uni friend.

Back home on the 28th to celebrate my little sisters 21st. We were taken by limo (free champagne) to a restaurant where we had a lovely meal and birthday cake.

Feeling Homesick

Home sick

Home sick

With the snow all gone Lunenburg seems to have lost its charm and Scotland has been calling…. I guess however, that Scotland doesn’t look anymore appealing at the moment. Would just like to see my friends and family and reassure myself that we have done the right thing (an hour with you guys and I will wanna get on the first plane back to Canada)

How about filling me in on some of the gossip…? That way I might not feel so far away. Plus our B&B facilities are open all year round, so just give us a shout should you need to book a room!
